Just days after picking up a verbal commitment from Amir Carlisle, a four-star tailback, who had previously committed to Stanford, the USC Trojans raided the Cardinal recruiting coffers yet again on Monday when they received an oral commitment from linebacker Anthony Sarao.
Sarao, a talented linebacker from Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, New Jersey, had originally offered Stanford a soft verbal commitment, but was said to be reconsidering his options due to turnover within the Cardinal coaching staff.
Rated a four-star prospect and Scout.com’s 11th-rated middle linebacker, Sarao visited the USC campus on Monday, a move that apparently sealed the deal for the young linebacker joining the Trojans.
The recruitment of Sarao is a big deal for a USC program that has missed out on a number of top linebacker recruits over the past two seasons, including Arizona State's Vontaze Burfict and Notre Dame's Manti Te'o in 2009, and UCLA's Anthony Barr in 2010.
Just as they did last year, head coach Lane Kiffin and his coaching staff are flexing some serious recruiting muscle this recruiting season.
